What do Republicans mean by "limited" government?

Legislate against abortion. Legislate against gay marriage. Legislate against stem cell research. Appoint judges whose agenda and decisions are entirely predictable and convince yourself that you believe in limited government so long as you are free to limit others constitutional or God given rights. Those are some of the tenets of limited government. Only fools will believe you limit government by intruding on and trampling others' rights.
Answers:
It means that it is limited so it can't prevent over-exploitation of the middle class and poor.
What is meant by 'Limited Government' is that the judicial branch will be so hamstrung by conflicting laws that the current administration will never be held accountable.
I really have a problem with you saying that abortion is a god-given right.

I am pro-choice, first trimester only, and the legislature beyond the first trimester allows it, but only if there is medical issues facing the mother.

Really, how can a partial birth abortion be okay with anyone, they do not abort a few cells, that have no definition. They absolutely kill a baby.

That is not a god given right.
Obviously you aren't sincere in asking the question, but rather use the question as an excuse to editorialize on the bullying republicans who want to outlaw this and that. I will address your editorial comments at the end, but first want to actually try to explain what is meant by limited government.

Limited Government:

Thoreau said, "That govenment is best that governs least." IF you think about that sentence for a while then you'll see that every day our government strays farther and farther away from "the best" government it could be, by virtue of governing more and more. If you look at the Constitution, the founding fathers were all about freedom. That means, the least possible government intervention (oppression) in our lives. AND they were about states' rights. As they saw it, the federal government was going to do precious little. Basically, the federal government was put in place to provide for a common defense (our military) and facilitate interstate commerce. How's that for limited? Name just about any modern-day government program and it is beyond the reaches of what our founding fathers invisioned for the federal government. Welfare? PLEASE! Social Security? No way! So, while Republicans in Congress continue to spend like drunken sailors, they are going against their party's basic stance of limited government. The government should ONLY impose its will when and where it is ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY. We should all see that we are better off with as little government as possible. (See Thoreau's line again.) AND we should strip the government of ANY power not provided by the Constitution AND invisioned under the concept of the original intent of our founding fathers; e.g., income tax.

Why outlaw abortion, gay marriage, etc.?

I begin this answer with one of my favorite questions: Why is murder wrong? I wish I could look into your eyes right now, because frankly, I have seen people's panic, their confusion, and even their anger over such a question. But I'm serious, why is murder wrong? Why is it outlawed? And would you under ANY circumstances advocate the government making murder legal? I believe it was in 1912 that the Supreme Court ruled that America is a Christian nation. Do you know that the court deliberated that decision for 10 years before rendering their verdict? Can you imagine? It took the court 10 years of thoughtful deliberation to come to the conclusion that we are in fact a Christian nation. Couple that with the overwhelming evidence found in the writings of our founding fathers that they came to this land, founded this government and this nation to ... ADVANCE THE KINGDOM OF GOD. They were Christians who wanted to glorify their God and to advance His kingdom. The whole "separation of church and state" thing has been lied about, distorted, and blown WAY out of proportion. It was understood that murder would be outlawed because ... we are a Christian nation and murder is wrong in God's eyes and in the eyes of those who know Him. So, it is just as obvious that divorce, sodomy, gay "rights," etc. would be outlawed by a Christian people in a Christian nation. Duh! Like it or not, government has a morality. If it's okay to oppress its citizens, see China, then that's part of its morality. If it's okay for government to haul you off to jail without due process, then that's part of its morality. And so on. So, our government which was founded by Christians, for what was then an overwhelming Christian populace, has a Christian morality. Gasp! Our legal system is founded on the 10 Commandments. Double gasp!

In fact, when you look at my section on limited government, NOTHING in it precludes the government from advancing its moral position. In fact, the gay marriage, don't ask don't tell, the equal rights amendment, Title 71, etc. are ALL parts of this government's modern-day swing to the left (morally speaking). That's okay with you? It's not hypocritical of this government to take morale stances that you agree with? All the stuff that you complain about is simply an effort of the far Right to re-calibrate our moral code, to get us back on track, etc. It's now a social battle. But I am emphatic when I say that there is NOTHING incompatible between a right-winger BOTH wanting limited government (in general) AND wanting STRONG intervention into the day-to-day lives of those who want to do evil (e.g., sodomize boys, marry your "life partner," etc.
The Republicans haven't practiced limited government for 100 years. The Republicans weren't always this way (there was a massive think tank strategy to go after Jimmy Carter in the 1980 elections with Ronald Regan winning by a land slide and the Republicans winning several congressional seats and government seats) and now they are in name only. Now those that preach that ideal are in the Libertarian Party.
If you don't like Democracy then maybe you should consider moving to an Islamic Country or a Communist Country such as China or Vietnam where you will have no rights at all and the Government will have complete control over how you live your life.
