about your home town? and you have a city job? you otto be fired for wasting time and money. Id hate to live where you have anything to do w/ city govn.
Wow..it's gonna be hard, since the only thing the mayor and the person who lied about you have to do is denie it. The court cant really do much.
Somebody "lied on you"?

Were you asleep at the time, and they snuck into your room and lied on top of you?

Were they drunk and just passed out on top of you.

How does somebody "lie on you" without you knowing it?

I don't understand. Please help me out.
If you have proof, take it up with the city council.
While someone shouldn't lie, on what basis in law do you propose to have grounds to file a lawsuit?

From your post you have no basis to file or to have the court entertain your petition.

It's not worth the effort and will make you look like a fool.
Sorry about the situation you are going through. Before you get excited. You should contact an attorney who specializes in slander or libel. These types of suits can be hard to prove. Unless you can show that you suffered irreparable harm to your name and your character.

You might have a tough time getting a judgement based on hearsay. Keep in mind that lawsuits are expensive and very time consuming. It's important you discuss your concerns with an experienced attorney before you pursue a claim in court.

Good Luck
Sorry, but you're sadly mistaken if you think a court is going to order him to tell who said something. You don't list any crime here, and you list no damage to you. Just because you believe something is untrue doesn't make it so, and unless you where hurt you have no standing to sue. Also if you have a witness why do you need the mayor to tell you? Sounds like you have a flimsy case at best, and possibly frivilous at worst.
